Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross- “Pieces Form the Whole”
From their score for The Social Network

David Chen interviewed Trent Reznor this week for /Film, and it’s one of the most thoughtful long-form interviews I’ve ever heard. Reznor has always been one of the most articulate figures in popular music, so Chen comes prepared and just lets him go. They start by discussing the unique collaboration Reznor and his partner Atticus Ross had with David Fincher, and they end up talking about the future of music distribution—or, to be more accurate, if there is a future. If you’re interested in film score composition or the artistic process in general, this is a must-listen.

The score itself is a searing, immediate, sneakily melodic piece that complements the film perfectly.
